Split or Multi-Split Air Conditioning: Which One Should You Choose?

When buying an air conditioning system, one of the most common questions is whether to choose a standard split or a multi-split solution. Both systems operate on a similar principle, but the main difference is the number of indoor units connected to a single outdoor unit.

With a traditional split air conditioner, one indoor unit is connected to one outdoor unit. This can be a simple and practical solution when only one room needs cooling or heating, such as a living room, bedroom or office.

A multi-split system allows several indoor units to be connected to one outdoor unit. This can be particularly useful when several rooms in a home need individual temperature control while avoiding the installation of a separate outdoor unit for every room.

A multi-split system may also offer aesthetic advantages because fewer outdoor units need to be installed on the exterior of the building. However, planning such a system can be more complex, as the capacity of the outdoor unit and the requirements of the individual indoor units need to be properly balanced.

The right solution therefore depends mainly on the number of rooms to be conditioned, the available space for outdoor units and the level of individual comfort required in each room.
